While not a core interest of mine, I picked up a small collection of Clockwork 0 Gauge stock a couple of years ago at a local vintage toy show:

As fun as this was to zoom around my office, I felt that I needed a serious locomotive and carriages for this really to make sense, so I picked up a basket case Hornby 4-4-2T:

This had been overpainted with what looks like house-paint, and certainly with a very pronounced texture.
I also picked up a trio of LNER Suburban coaches:

It may have been too much to ask for a brake vehicle in the rake, given they cost more than these three combined.
I decided to repaint the locomotive in LNER Lined Black. I painted the body with Hycote Gloss Black, the buffer beams with Craftmaster Medium Red undercoat and Precision Vermillion, and the smokebox got a few coats of AK Interactive Ultra Matt. The decals are from Fox Transfers, and while the lining is a little overscale, I think it adds to the charm.
