Four and Six Wheeler Conversions

Billinton D95

My first attempt to paint the LBSCR umber and cream scheme was on this convered Ratio GWR Composite carriage. With scratchbuilt straight ends it roughly approximates a Billinton D95 Suburban First:

Generally, the only stock that would still be in Stroudley’s varnished mahogany by my time period of around 1911 would have been close-coupled sets of four-wheelers, I have availed myself of a pair of rakes from Hattons and Hornby to bulk out my fleet. They will need work in due course!

I test painted one of my spare Ratio GWR bodies to approximate a Mahogany colour using Burnt Sienna:

I also bought a cheap 6w brake composite and painted that in the Umber and Cream livery of the Billinton period – for now it can fill in for Kemp Town shuttles, or part of a charter train with the D95 4w First!
