LBSCR B4 No.46 “Prince of Wales”

A B4 at Paddington!

The Brighton 4-4-0’s were successful machines, and as I understand it, the B4X-class holds the current record for the fastest Victoria-Brighton journey overall. The inclusion of a B4 on Brighton Trafalgar would cement the era and provide a characterful addition to the locomotive roster.

That said, there is no ready-to-run B4, and I do not currently have the bandwidth to scratch- or kit-build one. As a result, this page is a placeholder for a potential future locomotive.

Incidentally the locomotive pictured above is No. 46, which kept its name ‘Prince of Wales‘ due to occasional use on Royal Train duties, unlike most Marsh-era locomotives and it was the last locomotive built of the B4 class.
